Still waiting for the light to change.
It's good their grandpa loves them cuz they are a little strange.
Disneyland! We have arrived, except for the fact that we walk about a block further down to even get to the place where they take your tickets.
It was such a jaunt that the boys decided to stop and rest on these convenient poles.
Even further down we have reached the security screening where they check your bags for any contraband items. The first day they asked Momma Lynn to open her coat. I guess they found it a little suspicious that in 60 degree weather there was a woman wearing a heavy woolen coat but that's our Momma Lynn. She wore it practically the entire vacation and every day after that when we got to this part Riley would make sure to tell Momma Lynn to unzip her coat.
Here we are with our tickets out and ready to go.

At last! The mythical entrance gates. We have arrived.

Grandpa Brad was told that people generally tend to turn right when they are faced with which way to go because most people are right handed so we started off turning left and our first stop was the Enchanted Tiki Room.

Austin was not too pleased with this place. I think fear of the unknown and the dark beginning might have combined to bring on a little anxiety.

Not for us though, Reed and I are all smiles.

And as you can see so is Grandpa.

Look! Way down on the end! Rachel caught up with us! Yeah!

If you look closely you can see that this birds name is Fifi. I thought it was cute and wanted to document it. I wonder if Riley's imaginary friend Fifi the ghost looks like this. Probably not.

Ah, the wonder of singing anamatronics. Look at the enthralled faces.

Our next stop was the Jungle River cruise where I felt it was important to document the wait time. I don't know if this has ever happened in the history of Disneyland but here you go folks. In case you think no lines are a myth. We walked right on to the ride.

Here we are all piled in and ready to go.

Just a quick snapshot of the ride along the way. I would have posted the backside of water but I didn't want to be obscene. This is a family website, dontcha know.

Riley was not a fan and if you look closely you can see Austin hiding his head into Andrea. He wasn't a fan either. It started an unfortunate precidence for the vacation where Austin refused to go on a few rides that were deemed too scary. But that's okay. It's part of the beauty of having kids.

Next the family hit Indiana Jones. Riley was too short to ride and Austin didn't want to g on it so we three chilled in some of the gift shops while we waited for the family to get done. Austin and Riley picked up some newfound skills while waiting. Here they are learning how to wrestle snakes.

And we went through the Tarzan treehouse. Nothing against Tarzan but it makes me miss the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. I loved that thing. If I ever get stranded on a desert island I am going to try and build myself an exact replica. Just thought I'd share.

After everyone got out of Indiana Jones the lines were still so short that we switched the kiddos around and I went back through. Here is mom getting all strapped in and ready to ride.

And here is Andrea and I smiling in our excitement. Don't we look excited?

Fun rides and deep thoughts. Disneyland provides it all.

After the ride we met back up at tree house.

And of course had to take some pictures.

Our next adventure was Pirates of the Carribbean. Again we walked right on. I'm telling you. It was a Disney miracle. With a little eye candy thrown in for the ladies. That's right Johnny Depp, er- Jack Sparrow, I'm talking to you.

Ahoy me matey!

Grandpa with two of his girls. Awww!

Look at these two cool guys.

After the Haunted Mansion we decided to take the train ride around the outer edge of the park.

So we found some benches and just chilled for a few minutes waiting for the train to arrive.

All aboard!

What a little weirdo. But I love him.

This was our fantastic train conductor. He graciously allowed us to snap a few pictures of the boys with him after our journey. His little platform was right next to where we were sitting so on the journey he gave us some interesting tidbits about the train and its punctuality and timing, etc.

Here is another wait time. Again with the 5 minutes. I'm just showing you in case you don't believe me. Ok. I will stop posting pictures of the wait times. But I do want you to know I was excited about it.

Aunt Rachel came prepared with some rain slickers in her backpack that we put over Austin and Zach when we went on Splash Mountain.

Unfortunately I was not as wise to grab one.

What's that, Andrea? You said you had one with you? Why didn't you tell me that before!

Being completely soaked, I decided to hop into one of the stores and buy a dry sweater. While there, Grandpa decided to buy the boys each a hat. Here is a picture of us with our new wares. Austin's hat was a 'Stitch' hat which he thought was just the coolest thing ever. And the brim had a 'bite' mark on it so it looked like Stitch had taken a bite out of it. He pointed this out to me SEVERAL times - obviously wanting me to be impressed with the coolness of it all. Zach's hat had a really cool looking Mickey Mouse outline on it and Riley's hat was topped by a lovely twirly thing which every single character we saw throughout our time in Disneyland could not resist giving it a twirl.

Coming out of the store we ran into some characters and decided to stop and get our picture taken. Here the boys are with Brer Bear. (Is that how you spell Brer?)

And then we met Tigger where we got extra special attention because of Riley's hat. Here his handler (escorter? Person who makes sure they get breaks and water, etc?) is taking Riley's hat off his head for Tigger.

And here Tigger is playing with Riley's hat. He hung it from his nose. A fact that Riley got absolute delight from.
After playing, they were nice enough to give it back.

When we got around to Winnie the Pooh he needed to take a quick break which is the perfect time for a photo op.

Ah, he's back!

Here are Riley and Rachel working the water pump on a sinking ship on Tom Sawyer's Island. I didn't get many pictures on this island because the kids took of like maniacs once we reached shore, running and exploring.

I was able to gather up a few familiar faces for a picture in front of a mysterious door. Riley was very concerned. He read the danger keep out sign and kept asking me why it was dangerous.

The afternoon brought a little rain so we decided after lunch to head over to Tomorrow land and spend some time going through their indoor rides. Here we are in line for Buzz Lightyear all decked out in our rain slickers.

After the ride, we got to see our scores of all the targets we were able to hit with our light blasters. We assumed that Casey - being the video game officionado that he is would score high. He got 170K.
The impressive thing that shocked us all was that Momma Lynn matched his score. Talk about surprising! Go Momma Lynn.
Here is a random picture in all our 3-D glasses glory. Aren't we a good lookin' bunch? Again with the strange hand gestures. But this time everyone got into the act.

After the rain let up we decided to make Andrea very happy and go on its a small world. Doesn't she look happy? It was her favorite ride when mom and dad took us when we were all young. As soon as she got off she would ask if she could go again so we would circle around to the back of the line. Something tells me she might make us do it again this visit.

Oh, Casey. you have no idea what you are in for.

Alice in Wonderland.

Woody and Jessie.

Um, not to be a nitpicker or anything but we are wearing rain gear. Maybe they should rewrite it to say "Weather's nice!! Most of the time)

Here are some pictures of us up in Toon Town.
Zach is getting a ride on Rachel's back through the line.

Mom and Andrea are ready to go!

Look at what a strong little boy I have. It's hard to tell but he is trying to 'lift' dumbells.

Here are all the boys bending the bars in a desperate jail escape.

And what vacation would not be complete without a little musical entertainment?

Austin and Riley getting some hugs from Mickey Mouse!

Here are just a few snapshots as we walk through the line.
They had recently revamped its a small world - cleaning and updating the ride. It is still it's a small world but they added in a few little Disney details. I took some pictures of some of the more obvious ones which you can see below but Rachel had a better eye than I did because when we went through for the second time she was able to point out a bunch that I missed. I didn't take pictures the second time so if you want to see if you can spot them you will just have to try and look for yourselves the next time you are on its a small world.

After meeting Mickey, that was enough to wipe the kids out for the night so Grandpa, Momma Lynn and Rachel took them back to the hotel while Annie, Casey, Reed and I got to stay and do some of the more adult rides like the Matterhorn and my all time favorite...
Space Mountain
