Riley-ism

Today was Riley's first official day of 7th grade. While driving him to school we ended up behind a garbage truck on the way out of Springville. Riley said "Oh, I haven't seen a Springville garbage truck before." I said "Well, there it is." Then Riley said "I'm so excited!"
After a moment he felt like he had to clarify. "I'm excited for school. Not to see the garbage truck. I'm not like 'Oh wow! A garbage truck!"

Memorial Day traditions

Sent from my iPhoneWe had our annual tradition of walking up the the fire station for the fireman's pancake breakfast. Riley's friend Erik always helps out his dad who is one of the firemen and this year Riley asked Erik if he could help him. So Riley woke up at 4:45 to be over to Erik's house by 5:00 am so they could get to the fire station to start setting up by 5:30. He did such a great job serving the hash browns. After breakfast we walked the loop down to the other end of town, through the orchards and back.
