Fun with Marshmallows

We love Marshmallows!!

Riley and I were bored this afternoon so we decided to do a craft project using stale marshmallows and toothpicks. Here are some of the lovely results.

First we made a marshmallow man and a marshmallow dog. The man had some trouble staying upright but Riley said it was okay, he was just tired.

Riley decided that since we had a man and a dog we needed a lady. Here he is making the lady. He tried to put two marshmallows stuck together where the legs meet. I don't know what his inspiration is but maybe its telling me I need to work on getting a smaller booty.

After the lady was built, without the extra marshmallow butt, Riley figured out that if he skewered their backs with another toothpick he could get them to stand up. Here is our marshmallow family, complete with kid and a dog.

Next I made a flower...

Followed by, well I'm not real sure what I intended this to be...

We wrote Riley's name on some marshmallows.

Then Dad got in on the act and built Riley's person a platform to stand on.

And our little marshmallow family needed a little marshmallow house.

Here is a television. It's old school. Note the rabbit ears. You know someone should tell that tv about the switch to digital cable in a few months. Unfortunately a marshmallow sattelite dish was a bit out of our skill set.

So with a few modifications, the tv became a covered bridge.

Here is a little car to drive through it. And Reed made Riley an airplane.

Riley made the worlds biggest "andaconna" snake.

Complete with smiley face that he drew himself...and a little story to go along with it...

I don't know where that kid comes up with this stuff.

California Vacation - Day Four - Disneyland

DAY 3! Our final day at Disneyland...

Our plan for the morning was to get up and be at the park as soon as it opened so that we could head straight to fantasyland (thus beating the lines of kids whose parents would make them go through the park in some kind of discernable order) and catch the few final rides that we didn't hit yesterday.

There were a few more that we hit and on our way out of the park we couldn't resist stopping and getting a few family pictures with the sword in the stone.

This kid looks pretty strong but alas, the sword did not budge.

Show us your muscles Casey! Are you trying to pull or just posing? I can't quite tell...

Oh come on Reed. Put your back into it... Oh wait... Maybe that's not such a smart idea.

Geez Grandpa. Don't give yourself a hernia.

Zach wants to be just like Grandpa but isn't quite tall enough to get his leg all the way up yet.

Riley thinks it will come out if he scowls like a pirate. Arrrgghhh!

Move out of the way boys. Let's show you how to pull with style.

Go Momma Lynn!

After discovering that we were not in fact destined to be the next King of England we decided to head over to California Adventure, making a quick stop at the Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Here is Reed giving us his best Gator Chomp.

Aw, Dinosaur bones sticking out of red earth. Makes me miss Utah.

Riley wanted a picture to show all the 'treasure' that was under the water.

And of course, since we were walking by and the wait wasn't long at all we decided to go on Pirates of the Carribean one more time..

Once we all got over into California Adventure we decided to stop in and watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Show.

Boy Andrea and Casey look like they are enjoying themselves. Riley sure was entertained though.

After our little show we grownups decided to head over to the tower of terror while Rachel took the kids on Monsters Inc. Here is Momma Lynn. I'm sure she was trying to talk us into letting her go with the kids but no such luck Mom.

It's not great because it is a picture of a picture but here we are on the ride. The very best part of this whole picture, if you can see is Andrea's face. Priceless. Terrified, but Priceless.

Once we scared the crap out of everyone we decided to go for some of the tamer rides over in the Bug's Life section. We rode in ladybugs..

And enjoyed rolly-polly bug bumper cars.

Hi Momma Lynn!

Ow! Bonk! Look Out!

We took a lovely ride in a cattarpillar and experienced things from a bugs perspective.

Even as bugs these girls are pretty hot.

After we finished up the rides, we walked back to the pier area for some lunch.

Then we headed over to go on some more rides.

Riley got to try on the Stitch Hat.

We all got spun around in circles....

Picked up and dropped down again as jellyfish...

And Reed won Zach and Riley some frogs in a basketball toss game.

The boys loved their frogs.

As we made our way back toward the front of the park to catch our fastpass time to go Soarin' Over California again we decided we had just enough time to take a quick ride on some rapids...

No pictures of the after, but boy oh boy did we get wet again.

At this point, Riley and I went with Momma Lynn and Grandpa Brad into downtown Disney so they could pick up something for Jody's Baby. We got to ride the monorail back into the park.

Riley was very excited.

And we met up with Reed in time to watch a special Star Wars lightsaber show.

After Star Wars we headed back over to California Adventure to meet up with the rest of the gang and to watch the parade again.

Three days and these boys are still havin' fun. But what do you expect from the happiest place on earth?

After the parade, we went on a few more rides and then back over to watch the fireworks and Fantasmic all together as a family. It was the perfect, albeit cold, way to end our time in Disneyland. Now on to our next adventure. SeaWorld!
