THE BIG 29!

Heather is the one that is always so good at this but for her birthday I thought I would give it a try. We just got done eating a great dinner at the Pizza Factory and what better way to end the day than with a monkey and a birthday cake.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEATHER!!
We Love you!!

Sea World at the Credit Union

Today, Annie's work had a SeaWorld Exhibit so Riley and I left Reed at home to rest and headed up to see the animals. Despite the image in my head of a large tank (kind of like a dunk tank) set up in the pkg lot with Shamu and dolphins and walruses, which were NOT there it was actually pretty fun. Here is a picture of Annie and Riley in the pkg lot where the festivities started with some employees doing animal demonstrations. Sea World Employees. Not credit union employees. Though I am sure Andrea would have kicked butt!
Here is the Sea World lady with a lemur. One of Reed's favorite animals. Thanks Zaboomafoo! Here she is with a cuck-a-burra. I'm not sure how to spell that but it is a crazy sounding bird. She got the audience to make trilling 'ca' sounds and the bird who was apparently trying to stake its territory responded to us. It was pretty neat. I didn't hear what kind of animal this was but it was still pretty cool. At this point, we went inside hoping to get a chance to see the inside animals before the rush of the crowds. (they still had a few animals left outside, which they ended up bringing inside anyway.) Here is a giant frog. I cannot stress how big this sucker was. The picture does not do it justice because the frog was easily as large as my hand.
Here is Riley getting to look at a sloth. It was pretty cool. Because we went in early the Sea World people talked directly to Riley who was the only kid in there at the moment and they showed him how they feed the sloth. The lady in the blue shirt takes a bite out of an apple and then takes it out of her mouth and feeds it to the sloth. Not quite the same way this momma feeds Riley an apple but he found it pretty interesting.
Here is a giant turtle that they let just wander around the office. Riley and Annie went over and touched it but Riley kept asking if it was going to bite him. My brave boy, afraid of a turtle. And here is Riley in front of the penguin cage. They brought in another penguin as the crowds started coming in but we had already snapped a picture with just the one and it was easier not to fight the crowds again. There were quite a few people there.
Here is Riley with daddy's favorite mascot. At least I am pretty sure it is an alligator. I can never remember if the alligator or the crocodile has the pointy snout. Though I am fairly sure someone said it was an alligator. Riley watched a few kids touch it before he tried. Then he sat and stroked the tail for a good few minutes before he let go.
And finally, just a a humorous picture, here is someone from Andrea's office standing on Andrea's desk to get everyone's attention to give away the 4 pack of Sea World tickets. And no, we didn't win darn it! We were 6 numbers off the winning one. Oh well. It was still a fun day.

New Pictures

Dad decided it was time for Riley to get some new pictures taken. Since he hasn't really had any professional pictures taken since his 2nd birthday (ouch! How did I miss year 3?He is growing up too fast.) I agree that it was about time. Here are the results.

The other day, mom told me she wanted to repaint my bedroom as a birthday present and since she had 5 days off work this past weekend would be the best time for her to do it so I quickly, and rather impulsively picked out the new colors. I went completely different than everything I had been thinking, by the way. Anyway, here are some pictures documenting her efforts. Forgive the mess of all my furniture and wall hangings pushed into the middle of the room.

Here is a before picture of what the color was...
Here is mom starting to paint...
And of course, what project in my house can be done without Riley's help?

I did 3 walls in the yellow and 1 in the blue. I will try to post more pictures when it is completely finished, but there are still some things I want to do. Like get a new duvet cover to match the new color scheme, change out the window treatment and perhaps even splurge on some moulding. But regardless I want to tell mom thanks. I was getting a little tired of the color that was in there before so it is nice to have a change.

Gut Busters

The other day Riley was watching Tom and Jerry cartoons and laughing so hard. It reminded me of when he was just a baby and would laugh hysterically when he would watch the beginning of The Fox and the Hound, though I could never figure out what it was about that movie he found so funny. Anyway, it reminded me that he is growing up so fast and will not always be so easily amused so I quickly ran downstairs and grabbed my camera, determined to capture it on film. His laughter was, of course, not quite as hard since I was filming him but I still enjoy it. So now, all of you can too.

Riley-ism

A few Riley-ism's from the last few days
*Conversation between momma and Riley today:
Momma: we're going to go to annie's tonight and guess what? You get to open some birthday presents!
Riley: my birthday is still here?!?

* On a bike ride to Momma Lynn's house
While riding his bike over a gravely part of the road
Riley: Ouch Ouch! It's breaking my motor
Later while riding it past a puddle
Riley: I think that's quicksand
And just a random quote while riding
Riley: I think all bad guys are named Jason (What the huh?!? I don't think he even knows anyone named Jason. Where did this come from?)
